The 1990 Moulin de la Gardette Gigondas performed admirably in a blind tasting with its peers. The color is an opaque dark ruby/purple, and the nose offers up sweet vanillin aromas as well as copious quantities of black raspberries. In the mouth this opulent, full-bodied wine exhibits superb concentration, a big, muscular, chewy texture, and a long, concentrated, alcoholic finish. The low acidity gives it accessibility, but this bruiser is so well constituted that it should last for at least 10-12 years. Last tasted 6/95.
