This estate produced some rock-solid 2011s. First, the straight 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape is loaded with a sweet core of raspberry and black raspberry fruit that’s balanced by more toast, spice and cedar notes. Medium-bodied on the palate, with sweet tannin and solid purity, the oak dominates slightly, yet this holds everything together beautifully and is a joy to drink. Enjoy bottles over the coming 7-8 years. Drink now-2021.
These modern-styled efforts are made by Jean-Paul Autard, and the estate covers roughly 60 acres in Chateauneuf du Pape. He makes three red Chateauneuf du Papes, all of which show relatively modern profiles and see varying time in smaller barrels.
