The 2012s here are impressive. The classic 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape is a polished, elegant blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre that spent 16 months in small barrels. Showing the expected modern slant of this domaine, it has plenty of graphite, wood spice, and licorice in its core of darker, black raspberry-like fruit. Medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, with good acidity, it has an upfront feel, but should nevertheless evolve gracefully through 2024.
