Produced from 60 year old vines, the black/ruby-colored Pommard Rugiens has over-ripe cassis and blackberry aromas infused with violets and traces of toasted oak. A massive blockbuster, it is full-bodied, silky-textured, and saturates the palate with layers of black currants, cherries, licorice, dried plums, and leather. The incredibly long finish allows a glimpse at this formidable wine's copious yet supple tannins. Projected maturity: 2002-2009.
