The 1990 Alte d'Altesi (a 30% Cabernet Sauvignon/70% Sangiovese Grosso blend) is another terrific wine from this producer. It exhibits an impressive dark ruby/purple color, a huge, smoky nose with scents of jammy red and black fruit and barbecue sauce. Full-bodied, with wonderful suppleness and a layered impression on the palate, this concentrated, rich, delicious wine can be drunk now and over the next 8-9 years.
