The 1995 Pinot Noir offers a medium ruby color, as well as an excellent, sweet, black cherry nose intermixed with smoke, dried herbs, and minerals. There is lovely ripeness, medium body, and a quick finish. Drinkable now, it promises to evolve for another 4-5 years.
Mt. Eden's Pinot Noirs are elegant, Cote de Beaune-styled examples, with surprising longevity. I had my last bottle of 1985 this fall, and was extremely pleased to see how fresh, lively, and complex it had remained.
