Surprisingly, the 1997 Meursault Chevaliere's sauteed porcini-scented nose is more reminiscent of a red than white wine. Its ample character is redolent in layers of minerals, citrus, and white fruits. This is a 1997 Cote de Beaune that is truly elegant. That being said, this wine also has its vintage's tell-tale plumpness, huge ripeness, and thick fruit. It should be at its best between 2000 and 2006.
