Compared to the Tre Stelle, the 2014 Barbaresco Rio Sordo seems to have a slightly riper quality of fruit. The difference is minimal but it makes sense given that the heat during the 2014 vintage all came toward the very end of the growing season. This beautiful wine is bold and slightly more robust with dark cherry and red currant. It is also more marked in terms of tannins and structure. Only 1,500 bottles were made.

A lively version, displaying cherry, plum, licorice, spice and subtle tar flavors. Taut and balanced, exuding a mineral element on the long finish. Really elegant overall. Best from 2021 through 2035. 114 cases made.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barbaresco Select to Add
