The 1991 Charmes-Chambertin is as riveting as the 1990. Like all the Lignier offerings, it exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, and a huge, fragrant bouquet of black fruits, new oak, and floral scents. Deep, unctuous, and rich, this full-bodied wine displays tremendous concentration and a long, lusty finish. The tannin is concealed by the wine's remarkable richness. One of the superstars of Burgundy, Hubert Lignier's stunning 1991s are even better than his 1990s (which were amazing wines). All the 1991s were bottled unfined and unfiltered.
