The Collosorbo 2017 Sant'Antimo Rosso Le Due Gemme is the child of a warm and dry vintage, and its overall presentation lets you know as much. Black fruit aromas of dried currant, blackberry and dark plum rise from the bouquet. There is a very subtle green or vegetal signature that underlines the presence of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape in this Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The wine is medium in mouthfeel texture with a frank and simple approach overall. I could see serving it with meat balls or polpette in tomato sauce. Some 20,000 bottles were released in July 2019.
