Prunotto has followed the gorgeous 1989 Barolos with three superlative performances in 1990. The regular 1990 Barolo exhibits evidence of aging in small oak casks in its sweet scents of vanillin combined with abundant quantities of black-cherry fruit and tar. Full-bodied, densely-concentrated, with considerable tannin in the finish, this large-scaled, rich Barolo should be cellared for 3-4 years and drunk over the subsequent 15 years. It is a bargain for the vintage.
Prunotto, now owned by the Tuscan firm of Antinori, continues to turn out superlative examples of Piedmontese wines.
