The 2019 Weisser Burgunder reflects the finesse and elegance of the terroir around Westhofen and is also becoming more and more interesting for the export markets. Vinified in large 1,200- to 3,000-liter oak vats, the 2019 opens with an intense, fresh, elegant and nicely reductive yet aromatic bouquet with flinty and noble oaky notes. Juicy and charmingly round on the palate, this is a pure, firmly structured, persistently salty and tensioned Pinot with a long, firm and expressive finish. This is a spectacular wine at this price. Tasted in March 2020.
