One of the best Amarone wines on the market today, the 2010 Amarone della Valpolicella Campo dei Gigli is a wine of enormous proportions and soft contours. The ensemble of fruit on display is bright and bold with a level of dark fruit intensity that is difficult to achieve with appassimento. The traditional blend is 70% Corvina and Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, 5% Croatina and 5% Oseleta aged for three years in new tonneaux. The best part, however, is how the wine wraps so thickly over the palate. It coats it beautifully. This wine should wait a year or two before being served.
