The 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella Campo dei Gigli is a dark, brooding wine bursting with smoke, melted road tar, minerals, violets and black cherries, all of which are woven into a sumptuous, head-spinning frame. The wine offers exceptional length and a refined finish, where notes of coffee and mocha add further complexity. This is a superb effort from Tenuta Sant’Antonio. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.
