Made in a racy, focused style, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc (30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 30% Roussanne and 10% Bourboulenc) gives up plenty of citrus blossom, white flower and melon, as well as a saline-like minerality that keeps you coming back to the glass. Medium-bodied, fresh and focused, it’s a classy effort to drink over the coming 3-4 years (although it will probably last longer). Drink now-2018.
Covering 45 acres (37 in red and the rest planted to white varieties) spread throughout Chateauneuf du Pape, this top-notch estate has been run by Raymond Usseglio’s son, Stephane, since 2004, with consulting help from Xavier Vignon. These wines are consistently outstanding and warrant serious attention.
