The 2012 Dutruch Grand Poujeaux is one of those self-effacing, unpretentious wines that restores your faith in Bordeaux. Fresh and delineated on the nose with cedar and tobacco deftly infusing the black fruit, this is a no-frills bouquet that hits the sweet spot. It doesn't need to show off. The palate is well crafted with well-judged acidity, classically lined cedar-infused black fruit and a very well-balanced, "cool" finish that has just the right amount of dryness to urge another sip. Tasted January 2016.
