From Napa’s cool Coombsville area, the backward tasting, deep ruby/purple-tinged 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard displays smoky black currant, tobacco leaf, and barbecue notes as well as more structure and full body. It needs 1-2 years of cellaring, and should evolve for at least 15 years.
An outstanding, small, high quality winery that did not make it into my Napa report in issue #186, Realm has turned out a beautiful portfolio of 2007 reds, all of which are made at Chateau Boswell in Napa Valley. The innovative blends (all dedicated to William Shakespeare) are of very high quality.
