Traslanzas’s 2006 Tinto del Pais (Tempranillo) was sourced from a vineyard planted in 1945 and aged for 3 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. Earthy black fruits, leather, mineral, and violets compose the nose of this slightly rustic effort. There is enough underlying structure for the wine to evolve for 3-4 years. Should it round out with the additional cellaring, it will merit an outstanding rating.Importer: Winebow, New York, NY; www.winebow.com
