The flagship Maduresa comes from the estate’s oldest and lowest yielding vines with a focus on Mando, a nearly extinct indigenous varietal being resurrected by Celler del Roure. The wine is a blend of Mando, Monastrell, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot aged for 12 months in French oak. Opaque purple-colored, the nose is Bordeaux-like with vanilla spice, black currants, and blueberry with a hint of pepper in the background. On the palate the wine is elegantly-styled with attractive black fruit flavors, a firm structure, and a slightly hard finish. If this wine evolves over the next few years, my score may appear stingy.
