High levels of rustic tannin found in the 2000 Pinot Noir Thieriot Vineyard make it a problematic and risky choice. There is a lot going on, including copious quantities of black cherry fruit intermixed with hints of sassafras, smoke, minerals, and plums, but the distracting tannin has not yet fully meshed with the wine's flesh. Nevertheless, there is good density, ripeness, and a more muscular, masculine style than that of its siblings. The Thieriot cuvee will last for 7-8 years, but will it totally come together?
