Although limited in production, the 2001 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Beaumes de Venise is excellent. Produced primarily from old vine Grenache, this was a revelation in my tasting of Jaboulet's southern Rhone offerings. Blackberries, cassis, licorice, and earth jump from the glass of this deep ruby/purple-colored effort.
