The 1985 Brunello di Montalcino is a worthy successor to Pertimali's superb 1982 and 1983 Brunellos. With a deep opaque color and a huge nose of grilled meats, saddle leather, and roasted black fruits, this opulent, sensationally rich wine exhibits brilliant delineation to its intense, full-bodied flavors. Surprisingly soft for a seven year old Brunello, it can be drunk now or cellared for 10-15 years. This tiny estate makes some of the finest red wines in Tuscany. Unfortunately, the micro-quantities produced make the wine nearly impossible to locate.
