The 2007 Cabernet Franc Poggio De’ Colli is a richly textured, powerful red laced with fruit. The aromatics remain expressive and the tannins are quite elegant, even if there isn’t a ton of varietal character in this vintage. Nevertheless, the 2007 impresses for its volume, textural richness and elegance, all of which are found in abundance. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. Proprietor Mauro Vannuci follows up last year’s exceptional wines with another fine set of new releases. Late harvests, long macerations using only indigenous yeasts and no filtration prior to bottling are some of the hallmarks of this small estate.
