Originally named “Alpha,” the 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Père de Famille offers a mature nose with tertiary aromas, stewed fruit and dried nuts. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with splashes of Merlot and Petit Verdot, it’s an interesting wine that will best show when paired with food rather than drunk by itself. The palate reveals bright acidity with fuzzy tannins before exposing a finish that is in decline.
