Bouncing with life, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Père de Famille is brighter and fresher than the 2002 and 2003 bottlings. Noticeably fresher, the bright and juicy frame offers a brilliant floral lift, possibly from the use of Horse Heaven Hill fruit. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is balanced, delightful and fresh, offering a bold structure with a delightfully youthful tannic edge. Surprisingly, the wine does not come across as a 20+-year-old wine. This beauty has plenty of life left in it; I see its original drink date and score, and I will gladly tip it further north. Bravo!
