The 2008 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill received the same elevage as the Vista Hills. It has a lovely, silky palate feel and very good red fruit flavors, but there is nothing below the surface. Panther Creek’s wines have been less than inspiring in recent years. I find it surprising that in a great vintage like 2008, three of the eight wines presented could not be recommended and only one barely qualified as outstanding. Not to be too harsh on Panther Creek, no one will be offended by these wines. In fact, most imbibers will enjoy them.
