A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, the 2010 Maurizio Zanella is a bold and penetrating wine. It boasts the richness of the varieties used in the blend and the smoky spice inherent to aging in French oak. But this wine from the Sebino IGT appellation in northern Italy shows sharper contours and a fresher style compared to the same Bordeaux grapes from Tuscany or central Italy. There is great definition here in the form of blackberry and dried cherry. The wine should continue its evolution over the next ten years.
