The 2011 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Poggio Stella opens to a deep ruby color and pretty aromas of black cherry, red currant and even a touch of candied apricot. The wine is smooth and clean with dark spice, tar and light brushes of licorice that wrap around the finish. The tannins are dry but they give a solid structural framework to the wine.

Rich and dense, with black cherry fruit and firm tannins, this red remains fresh and balanced. Ends with elements of tobacco, spice, licorice and leather. Can handle a grilled steak now, or braised meats with some bottle age.
