Produced from a parcel located just below Perrieres, Jobard's Meursault Charmes plays the role of an elegant sibling to the power and intensity of his Genevrieres. Orange rind, nut, and mineral aromas are found in this medium-to-full-bodied, silky, and concentrated wine. Mouth-coating layers of creamy nuts, stones, and gravel are woven in lace-like fashion throughout this beauty's super-refined and extraordinarily long personality. Projected maturity: 2002-2009+. Bravo! The Meursault Genevrieres and Meursault Charmes are extremely representative of their respective terroirs and would make for a fascinating (and decadent!) evening for readers lucky enough to acquire both.
In Jobard's opinion, the key to producing great white Burgundies in 1996 was to harvest late, allowing the grapes to produce higher natural sugar levels than were present at the ban de vendange.
