The 2007 Pregio del Conte is Montepulciano and Aglianico aged in small French oak barrels. Like most of the other 2007s, the wine reveals ample generosity and warmth but limited complexity and structure. This accessible, mid-weight red is best enjoyed while the fruit is still primary. Saladini Pilastri is an excellent source for tasty, value-priced wines. The Marche remains one of Italy’s least-known regions, and that means readers can essentially drink everything up to this producer’s top wines without spending princely sums.
