The 2000 Chianti Classico has a Barolo-like nose of resin, tar, and floral notes along with its black cherries and plums, though the palate, polished, elegant, stylish, and very continuous, is clearly Tuscan, not Piedmontese. Classy and precise. This is a wine that sooths and satisfies, but also is capable of playing at a pretty fast pace. The nose offers crisp red fruit, hints of orange and plenty of dry leather.
