The 2002 Chianti Classico, fragrant in its expression of red currant and wild cherry fruit, violets, and chocolate, is finely spun, continuous, and well sustained on the palate. The flesh of a warmer and drier year is obviously not present and, though the wine will undoubtedly hold for a few years, I would suggest drinking it reasonably soon.
