The 2001 Pignan Chateauneuf du Pape reveals a deep color along with an enticing nose of black cherries, prunes, figs, and resiny pine needles. There is good sweetness on the attack, medium body, excellent depth, and firm tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2015. Like most Chateauneuf du Pape domaines, I did not see anything while tasting through the 2002 reds that would suggest they could be recommended in this publication.Importers: Alain Junguenet, Wines of France, Mountainside, NJ; tel.
