Deep garnet-black colored with just a hint of brick, 2004 Roennfeldt Road Cabernet Sauvignon presents intense aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant preserves with nuances of sautéed capsicum, tree bark and iron ore. The very full bodied palate is more expressive, densely fruited with rich blackberry and prune flavors plus a bit of lift from the dried herb characters. It has very crisp acid and a firm level of chewy tannins, finishing long with lingering notes of aniseed and cloves. Drinking now, it's clear this outstanding wine has more to give with a further 3-5 years in bottle, but it will never be on a par with its amazing Shiraz counterpart from this vintage.
