Jayer often produces premier cru quality wines from his parcel of Nuits-St.-Georges Les Hauts Poirets, a village cru, and 2001 is no exception (granted, it is priced like a first growth). Aromatically spicy, it is lush, supple, fruit-packed, and medium-bodied. Copious quantities of black cherries are found in its generous character as well as in its lengthy finish. Drink it over the next 6-7 years.
