One wonders what happened with Colombo's 1989, an excessively oaky, medium-bodied wine that is out of balance. There is some concentration, but the oak has been permitted to obliterate what fruit remains. 1989 was not an easy vintage for the Cornas appellation, and this is an example of a wine where the use of new oak casks should have been eschewed. Last tasted 6/95.

Rich and full-bodied, with generous black cherry and tobacco aromas and flavors, a smooth texture and well-camouflaged tannins. Soft enough to drink now with hearty food, but worthy of cellaring until 1995 or '96 to see what that can bring out.??–null??Region: France / Northern Rh?ne / Cornas Select to Add
