The 2014 Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru, which comes from the Puligny side of the vineyard, has a palpable sea breeze tincture on the nose that is joined by almond and grilled walnut with time. The palate is fresh on the entry and is perhaps a little more viscous than its peers. Ergo there is satisfying density here, a powerful, confident Batard with chutzpah, though it does not quite deliver the sophistication on the finish...at least not at this early juncture.
