In last year's tasting note, I mentioned that the 2009 Siran was one to watch. Revisiting the wine again almost (but not quite) a year later, the nose is unchanged with those blackcurrant and graphite aromas. The palate indicates a little more depth than 12 months ago, still tensile and fresh with a convincing grip. There is still some new oak to be fully assimilated towards the finish so afford it another year or two, no longer, and you will have a lovely 2009 Margaux on your hands, one that will give pleasure over the next 15-18 years. Tasted January 2017.
