The 1994 exhibits a medium to dark ruby color, a sweet, tobacco, smoky red fruit-scented nose, medium body, soft tannin, low acidity, and a ripe, round personality that easily slides down the gullet. It is a charming wine that should drink well for 7-8 years. The wines from this estate are textbook wines from Pessac-Leognan, displaying finesse, complexity, and aromatic fragrance over blockbuster power. It is a wine to drink early, usually within its first 10-12 years of the vintage. The 1994 and 1995 offerings provide persuasive evidence that finesse and elegance can be accompanied by plenty of flavor. All of the wines in this segment were tasted between March 19 and March 28 in Bordeaux. Most of the important wines from both the 1994 and 1995 vintages were tasted three separate times during my ten-day stay in Bordeaux.
