The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos des Chezeaux comes from a single block of 0.5 hectares that is métayage. In this year Amelie wanted to experiment with whole bunch, but Berthaut père only allowed her to try with 20% as he is not too keen on the practice (though there is actually more whole bunch in 2014.) Raised in 30% new oak, this has quite an upfront, quite a bold bouquet with mulberry and blackcurrant scents with wilted rose-petal notes developing. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe redcurrant and strawberry fruit, good density, but just missing little complexity toward the silky finish.
