The magic of old dry white Bordeaux was encapsulated in this bottle of 1975 Ferrande Blanc. It was not dissimilar to a Nahe Riesling of the same age on the nose: melted candle wax, lanolin and wet wool aromas, then with aeration you could draw comparisons with an old South African Chenin Blanc. The palate is fresh with a keen line of acidity: dried honey, mandarin and quince, rustic and lacking finesse, but what the hell? There is such personality and flavor locked up in this gem. Delicious down to the last drop. Tasted February 2017.
