The Borgo Scopeto 2015 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna Misciano opens to tangy and slighty raw aromas of scorched earth, wild berry and pressed rose. The fruit comes from the warm Castelnuovo Berardenga comune of the Chianti Classico appellation. On the one hand, this wine delivers some of the simplicity and streamlined personality of a classic Sangiovese. On the other hand, you taste the plushness and extra texture of this sunny vintage. I prefer this wine to the estate's inaugural Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from the same vintage. This feels like a wine for spinach and ricotta ravioli dishes. Some 13,000 bottles were made.
