Seductive in a superficial manner, the 2003 La Conseillante exhibits a deep ruby/plum color with purple nuances followed by captivating aromas of mulberries, black cherries, licorice, and flowers. In the mouth, the wine is luscious, soft, and velvety-textured with sweet tannin. It does not possess profound depth. Drink it now and over the next 7-10 years. Obviously, vintage conditions forced this estate to harvest early, hence the lack of intense concentration.

Very pretty aromas of crushed berry, sandalwood and raspberry jam. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins. Balanced and refined. Well done. Best after 2008. 3,330 cases made. -JS

87-89 There is plenty of fruit here, black and brooding. But the wine does suffer from excessive dry tannins.
