As usual, Robert's 2018 Saint Peray Cuvee Prestige blends 80% Marsanne (from vines more than 100 years old) with 20% Roussanne. The flavors blend pear and melon, adding a touch of peppery spice and nettle-like notes. It's full-bodied, with a rich, velvety feel and hints of honeyed richness on the lengthy finish.

The 2017 Saint Peray Cuvee Prestige is a blend of 80% Marsanne (from 100-year-old vines) and 20% Roussanne. This full-bodied wine is richer and fresher than Robert's other Saint-Pérays. It boasts aromas of toasted marshmallow, pear and pineapple, a rich, textural feel on the palate and a long, clean and zesty finish. Lovely stuff, it should drink well for 6-7 years. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Robert’s 2016 Saint Peray Cuvee Prestige is an 80-20 blend of Marsanne (from old vines) and Roussanne. It’s richer and rounder than his single-varietal bottlings, combining the melon and marshmallow of Marsanne with honey and pineapple notes from the Roussanne, capped off by a long, spicy finish.

Another beauty is the 2015 Saint Péray Prestige, which is 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne brought up all in barrel. Fresh, focused and lively, with the classic minerality that’s the hallmark of the appellation, it gives up lots of caramelized peach, charcoal, orchard fruits and a hint of salt block (the big block of salt that’s set out for grazing cattle or deer) in a medium-bodied, beautifully pure and elegant style.

On another level, the 2014 St Péray Cuvée Prestige has terrific minerality in its pineapple, apple blossom, brioche and citrus-laced bouquet. This gives way to a medium-bodied, fresh, elegant, and nicely delineated white that has enough density and texture to evolve nicely for 5 or more years. Note, this is a blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne that was brought up in roughly 20% new demi-muids.
