Less massive than the regular bottling (reviewed in May 2021), the 2019 Crozes Hermitage les Hirondelles is also full-bodied, but it shows greater fruit expression on the nose—black cherries, blueberries—and more definition on the palate, with ripe but firm tannins framing those fruit notes and ushering them into a long, tannic finish. Give this another year or two, and it should really shine.
