The 2017 Granato is a pure expression of Teroldego with a sultry, dark color and inky concentration. Summer temperatures in 2017 were warm, but hail damaged 40% of the crop. The fact this wine was even made is a miracle. There is a lot of succulent and tart fruit here that recalls wild cherry and plum, with riper tones of black currant and blackberry that add extra richness and texture. Some stem inclusion is usually employed to make this wine, and its structure is fleshed out as a result. To summarize, this is a full-bodied vintage of Granato with little hints of the tart pomegranate fruit that grows on a tree right outside the winery door.
