Medium-bodied and really grows on the palate with juicy fruit that is citrusy and crunchy with velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Lively. Needs two or three years to come together.

Light red with a garnet edge. Hibiscus, strawberry, pie crust and caramel aromas follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and umami finish. Light spices and flowers in the aftertaste. Better in two or three years.

The Gianni Gagliardo 2018 Barolo del Comune di La Morra has a slightly toasted character with dark fruit, tobacco and Spanish cedar. The wine has an open, modern feel with tight tannins and big structure. It shows generous dark fruit with more berry layering at the back. I tasted bottle 82 of 4,362 bottles and 152 magnums produced.

The 2017 Barolo del Comune di La Morra arrives in another environmentally unfriendly heavy bottle, with the contents showing slightly more ripeness (compared to the classic Barolo), with crushed rose, red fruit, plum, dried cherry. With a very soft, near-term mouthfeel and integrated tannins, it is ready to go straight out of the gate. Exactly 7,513 thick-glassed bottles were produced.

This is rich, displaying cherry, plum, earth and menthol flavors. It's tight, too, with moderate length and dusty tannins lining the finish. Best from 2024 through 2040. 3,355 cases made, 208 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add
