Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, Greenock Creek’s 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon gives aromas of fresh black currants and red plums with nuances of Mediterranean herbs, pencil shavings, underbrush and black pepper. Medium bodied and very crisp in the mouth, it offers just enough vibrant, juicy Cabernet fruit with a medium to firm level of chewy tannins and a long finish. Approachable now, it should remain good to 2018. Importer: No Known American Importer.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the Greenock Creek’s 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of crushed black currants, ripe blackberries, Mediterranean herbs, graphite and black pepper with an earthy undercurrent of tree bark and damp soil. Very full-bodied and rich at 16% declared alcohol, it’s supported by medium-firm fine grained tannins and crisp acid. It has great persistence with an earthy finale and a little lingering heat. The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon spent time in seasoned French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it displays an aromatic array of pain grille, pencil lead, violets, black currant, and blackberry. Full-bodied, plush, and succulent, this impeccably balanced Cabernet has enough fine-grained tannin to support another 4-6 years of cellaring. Enjoy this pleasure-bent effort from 2014 to 2026. Greenock Creek’s latest collection is a bit more mixed than usual due to the more challenging nature of the vintages from which these wine were produced. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in seasoned French hogsheads, is a glass-coating purple/black color. It exhibits an aromatic array of mineral, tar, black currant, and blackberry followed by a dense, layered, succulent Cabernet with outstanding depth and concentration. It conceals enough ripe tannin to evolve for 6-8 years and should offer prime drinking from 2014 to 2030. Greenock Creek Vineyard & Cellars, owned by Michael and Annabelle Waugh, remains one of South Australia’s iconic wineries.
