The 2012 Collio Bianco della Castellada, benefiting from four days of maceration for part of the blend, is an orange wine in more than one sense of the word. It shows a light orange color, with sweet candied fruit and notes of orange peel mixed in with touches of smoke. It has a very exotic personality with sensations of saffron and a touch of cinnamon and white licorice as well. It's a very interesting blend of Pinot Grigio (50%), Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, in decreasing order of importance. I could see pairing it with crepes or potato pancakes. Some 4,000 bottles were produced.
