The 2020 Chardonnay Clone 76 Inox is scented of white peaches and poached pears with wafts of citrus blossoms, crushed almonds and baker’s yeast. The medium-bodied palate is textural and layered, its peachy fruits taking on more honeyed tones, and it finishes with great length and perfume.

The 2019 Chardonnay Clone 76 Inox has bright, open white peaches and quince with notes of honey, ginger and white flowers. The palate is light to medium-bodied with fresh, juicy fruits and a long, perfumed finish. This is surprisingly expressive for a young, unoaked Chardonnay. 336 cases were made.

Bottled only six days before I tasted it, the 2017 Chardonnay Clone 76 Inox was nevertheless quite open and expressive, offering up pretty notes of citrus blossom, white peach, fresh apple and salty sea breeze. On the palate, the wine is crisp, medium-bodied and acid driven, with a pure, clean finish. This is aged in tank with blocked malolactic fermentation.

The 2016 Chardonnay Clone 76 Inox has a great intensity of pure, unadulterated apple, white peach and melon notes with touches of nutmeg, baker’s yeast and fresh hay. Medium-bodied, the palate offers wonderful energy, packed with pure apple and melon flavors and finishing on a mineral note.

Brought up all in stainless steel, the 2014 Chardonnay Clone 76 Inox is the estate's top Chardonnay that's a vineyard selection that sees no new oak or wood of any kind. It sports a racy bouquet of mint, citrus rind, green tea and hints of lemon to go with a medium-bodied, balance and nicely texture feel on the palate. The nose cuts like a razor blade, but the palate is more rounded than you'd think. I still prefer the straight Verna's cuvee, but this is a solid and certainly interesting Chardonnay.
